Moy Report 15th April @ 8 am

Height at Ballylahan bridge 0.74m

Water temperature 8°c

The river seems to be holding at the moment and may rise a little more due to a few overnight showers.  Prospects for today are very good with spinning and worm probably having the Edge.  Unfortunately I won’t get out myself until after mid week.

It looks like the dry spell is over.  The forecast for the week is very unsettled, with several systems due to come in from the Atlantic.  This will hopefully provide good running conditions for salmon coming in with the tides.  The small bit of extra water we got over recent days has certainly encouraged a few salmon up into the EMAA waters.  With good conditions the run of fish will now start to pick up.

Hopefully catches will be a daily occurrence, with the best of the spring fishing yet to come.  In recent seasons the EMAA stretch has produced up to one hundred spring salmon in a week.  May is the month that accounts for the bulk of the catch.

Apologies to Declan for the photo above but it was the best I could do with the attachment provided.
