Moy Report 20th May @ 8.30am

Height at Ballylahan bridge 1.03m

Heavy localised showers yesterday have maintained river levels, and conditions remain much the same as yesterday.  More downpours are forecast for today, with some of these thundery in the afternoon.  You should have a chance of fish throughout the fishery, and all methods will work.

I didn’t get a final figure for the number of fish caught yesterday but it certainly ran into double figures.  There were several good fish caught in the lower teens and also a few grilse in the mix.  Most of the fish seemed to be caught from Ballylahan down, with the upper stretches fishing poorly despite good waterlevels.  Angling pressure was  intense in the lower half of the fishery, with a wide variety of nationalities having a go.

River Moy East Mayo Anglers.

Gareth McMorris (Enniskillen) got his season on the Moy started in style when he landed these two nice fish yesterday on the worm. The fish weighed in at just over 10lb and 4lb. Well done and I’m sure it will be the first of many.
